Support KFMW Data Collection and Analysis

In response to the COVID-19 crisis, the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) launched the Keeping Food Markets Working (KFMW) program. This initiative aimed to maintain the flow of affordable, nutritious foods in African and Asian markets during pandemic-related disruptions.

A key component of the KFMW programme involved high-frequency surveys to monitor market resilience and the impact of the pandemic on food supply chains. Initially focusing on Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Bangladesh, the project later expanded to include Mozambique.

rowsquared was hired to coordinate these surveys, ensuring consistent and reliable data collection across all countries. We developed standardized questionnaires and protocols, and managed the data collection process, including automated quality control to streamline collaboration with local data collection partners.

Our team also took responsibility for collating and cleaning the data, generating key indicators, and conducting descriptive analyses. This ensured that the insights were accurate and actionable for GAIN’s strategies.

We developed an interactive dashboard and produced regular automated reports to track trends such as price fluctuations and consumer perceptions of market conditions.

Our involvement saved GAIN significant time and effort, allowing their teams to focus on broader programmatic objectives while we ensured the smooth coordination, management and analysis of the data.
